The HR Generalist is responsible for influencing or leading various HR activities, including Safety & Sustainability, HR business partnership, maintaining HRIS (SuccessFactors), supporting employee relations and performance management while ensuring compliance with labor laws. This role requires a proactive tactical approach to support the organization's strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
Safety and Sustainability : Act as a role model to ensure safety and sustainability efforts, particularly community responsibility and talent attraction, are a focus at the local level. HR Business Partnership:
Partner with employees and management to communicate and give guidance on various Human Resources activities, development programs, policies, procedures, laws, standards, and government regulations. HRIS and Employee Recordkeeping:
Responsible for appropriate updates to HRIS and local file management. Recruitment & Onboarding:
Manage the local recruitment process by leveraging internal talent acquisition resources, onboarding tools and interviewing skills. Employee Relations:
Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries, ensure proper investigations are completed, address concerns, make recommendations to leaders and promote a positive workplace culture. Conduct exit interviews to analyze data and make recommendations to leaders for corrective action and continuous improvement. Coach leaders on engagement survey activities. Performance Management:
Coach managers on the consistent use of performance management processes and tools such as performance management forms, individual development plans, succession plans, calibration sessions and compensation planning. Compliance:
Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and escalate concerns in a timely manner. Operational Excellence:
Act in manner that contributes to a culture of continuous improvement Required Skills
Minimum of 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges. Self-starter with ability to drive projects, milestones, and goals to completion. Ability to listen for understanding and make recommendations. Ability to demonstrate experience in the areas of safety, integrity, ownership, creativity, teamwork, courage, and agility. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in HRIS and Microsoft Office Suite. Hungry, Humble, Smart Education, Certifications & Licenses
Bachelor's degree in human resources, organizational behavior, labor relations or employee relations. Other bachelor's degrees will be considered in conjunction with HR experience. Strong knowledge of HR practices and employment laws. HR Certification is preferred.
