Job Description: AV Technology Engineer
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled AV Technology Engineer to design, implement, and maintain cutting-edge audiovisual (AV) systems. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality AV solutions that enhance collaboration, communication, and event experiences across our organization. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in AV technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
AV System Design and Deployment:
Design, configure, and implement AV solutions, including conference room setups, digital signage, live event systems, and video walls.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand AV requirements and propose cost-effective, scalable solutions.
Conduct site surveys to ensure optimal system performance and adherence to specifications.
Technical Support and Maintenance:
Provide hands-on troubleshooting and support for AV systems, including hardware, software, and network-related issues.
Perform regular maintenance, upgrades, and testing to ensure system reliability and performance.
Document system configurations, workflows, and troubleshooting procedures.
Integration and Collaboration:
Integrate AV systems with existing IT infrastructure, including video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex).
Work closely with IT, facilities, and external vendors to manage AV-related projects.
Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and standards for AV equipment.
Event Support:
Support live events, including setup, operation, and teardown of AV equipment (e.g., microphones, cameras, displays, lighting).
Provide real-time technical assistance during presentations, webinars, and hybrid events.
Evaluate and deploy AV solutions for events to enhance audience engagement and interactivity.
Innovation and Training:
Research and evaluate new AV technologies to improve existing systems and user experiences.
Conduct training sessions for end-users on AV equipment and software.
Develop and share best practices for AV system use and maintenance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Technical Expertise:
In-depth knowledge of AV systems, including audio processors, video switchers, matrix systems, and control platforms (e.g., Crestron, Extron, AMX).
Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols as they relate to AV integration (e.g., AV over IP, Dante, HDBaseT).
Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting AV hardware, such as projectors, displays, microphones, and speakers.
Experience and Education:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3+ years of experience in AV system design, installation, and support.
Certifications in AV technologies (e.g., CTS, CTS-D, CTS-I, or vendor-specific certifications) are highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on delivering solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with cloud-based AV platforms and tools, such as Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, or Google Meet hardware.
Experience with video production and live-streaming tools (e.g., OBS, vMix, or similar).
Knowledge of building automation systems and environmental controls related to AV systems.
