Technical Service Specialist (Remote, USA) Work Mode: Remote Location: Remote USA Under the direction of the Manager - Technical Services, the TechnicalService Specialist provides after-sale service support to Kohler Power distribution channel(s) primarily in, but not limited to, the Residential,Portable, and Power Product markets. This support includes technical troubleshooting, technical information assistance, application data, warranty processing assistance, anddistributor/dealer training in a back-up role. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES Provideinformative and technical advice to distributor and dealer technicians bytelephone, e-mail, and field visits regarding proper generator maintenance,repair, operation and training. This service is necessary to provide a graciousafter-sale experience, high levels of customer satisfaction, and repeatedsales. Aid and support distributors, dealers, and OEMs with applications, installations, and field start-up of new products. Warranty claims review and processing, as well as, providing technical assistance to the WarrantyCoordinator regarding validity of warranty requests by distribution channel(s) and customers to ensure efficient and just processing ofthe claim can be made. Perform assignments delegated by the Manager- Technical Services and assist them in all functions necessary to administer generator service policies. This isessential for consistent administration ofwarranty service policies. Analyze field reports, production complaints, laboratory prototypes, advise and assist indevelopment ofindustry leading products. Consult with Engineering, Warranty Inspection,Quality, and Production Departments regarding reoccurring field failures so all departments are aware ofthe specifics so corrective measures can be taken. Provide consulting service for the Technical Publications Department as necessary in the preparation of manuals, bulletins, and other service and application relatedmaterial. This includes review of roughdrafts for technical accuracy and adequacy of the intended purpose. Provide technical assistance and advice to Sales Administration regarding interpretation of certain orders and development ofthe proper lists of parts for specific repairs. This aids in expediting the proper parts to the customer in a timely fashion ensuring world-classuptime. RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS Supervisory Relationships: Reports to Manager- Technical Services Organizational Relationships: Daily communicationwithin Technical Service Team. Escalation of issues to Sr. Technical Service Specialist Provideadditional technical support, repair direction, and/or warranty guidance forescalations from the Technical Service Representative team. In therare occasion, bundle unresolvable escalations into a comprehensive package toin turn deploy or network in Field Services to bring immediate resolution tothe topic. Frequent contact with Generator production, Sales and Inspection Departments to solve serviceproblems and improve product quality. Frequent contact with the Technical Publications Department to review and obtain service literature. Frequent contact with Sales Administration staff to provide technical assistance. Frequent contact with Parts Marketing staff to determine service needs, stocking codes, identification, and supersessions. Frequent contact with Engineering Department to keep informed on new developments. Frequent contact by phone and conversation with our Field Services Team, Area Sales Managers, and Account Executives providing technical assistance inallarea pertaining to service. External Business Relationships: Daily contact with distributors and dealers by phone and email correspondence. Frequent contact with original equipment manufacturers by phone and email correspondence. Limited contact with end customers by phone and email correspondence. Skills/Requirements EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field preferred; or3 to 5 years' experience within the power generation industry. At least 2 years' experience in the operation,maintenance or repair of ATS, generators, or other electricpower distribution equipment. A thorough understanding of generators, engines, automatic transfer switches and related controls ispreferred. Ability to quickly grasp and understand these concepts would be acceptablefor the right candidate. Basic understanding of electricalpower generation is required. Ability to troubleshoot andsolve mechanical and electrical problems. Excellent communicationsskills. Computer proficiency andoperating knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Travel is estimated to be 15-20% within NorthAmerica. Some international travel maybe required. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future. The salary range for this position is $63100 - $79500. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.
