Manufacturing Manager Responsibilities & Job Description
• JOB BRIEF
o We are looking for a skilled Leader to manage, drive, develop, and grow the manufacturing team
o Together we will identify measurable results in quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery which will develop a new standard for performance at the company.
o You will oversee, coach, and improve the workforce, ensuring production meets customer timelines, exceeds their expectations, improves delivered quality, and increases profitability.
• RESPONSIBILITIES
o Review blueprints and work order paperwork for completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards before distributing to the shop for production.
o Assign work orders to welders/fabricators/machine operators and other employees; manage and track each so projects are completed on time.
o Optimize workflow to reduce production downtime and to improve shop efficiency and utilization.
o Implement an upgraded scheduling system that improves work flow and increases daily production.
o Develop and implement a standardized training program that improves each employee’s ability.
o Reduce error rates throughout all production aspects using metrics, if available, hands-on training, and performance assessments where needed.
o Increase the cross-functional skills of fabricators to improve adaptability and productivity.
o Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training new employees. Assign new employees to experienced workers for mentoring/training.
o Review employee performance and make compensation recommendations. Make other employment recommendations as needed.
o Confirm jobs pass final quality inspection without errors, growing our reputation for delivering accurately manufactured parts and assemblies.
o Reduce rework through supervision and better job setup training for all workers.
o Provide updates (daily/weekly) to Sales on project status, ensuring alignment between shop operations and customer expectations are conveyed.
o Collaborate with quoting personnel to reduce errors, improve router accuracy of existing and new parts and assemblies, increase profitability and customer satisfaction through better estimated price and delivery dates.
• REQUIREMENTS
o Expertise and knowledge of all types of metals and welding/fabricating and cutting techniques utilizing available machinery, equipment, and tools including CNC lasers, CNC press breaks, CNC Mills, etc.
o Proven record showing leadership abilities that improve team performance.
o Strong communications skills that bring and keep a team together, hold them accountable, and determine individual and team strengths and weaknesses.
o Basic computer and software knowledge; including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CNC software, CAD and CAM/Solidworks.
o Solid math, conceptual, and problem-solving skills along with process improvement awareness.
