Job Title: Staff Accountant
Job Description
Support the Controller in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
Maintain knowledge of and support processes and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP.
Maintain the general ledger, including setting up new accounts and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
Assist in the month-end close and prepare month-end closing entries for cost accounting and general ledger adjustments.
Reconcile payroll, intercompany, prepaids, accruals, and other financial accounts as necessary.
Reconcile bank accounts, verify bank activity, and address inquiries from banks.
Verify accuracy of accounts payable expenses recorded in the general ledger and ensure purchases are charged to the appropriate accounts.
Work closely with procurement to ensure purchase orders are recorded to the proper general ledger accounts.
Support the monthly variances to budget and forecast.
Track, analyze, and report departmental costs, both actual and standard.
Work closely with department managers to understand actual and forecasted departmental costs.
Assist Controller and outside auditors with the annual audit and gather necessary account information and documentation.
Essential Skills
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, V-Lookup.
Knowledge of general accounting and cost accounting to ensure compliance with GAAP.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
At least 3+ years of Finance/Accounting experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
One (1) year of relevant experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment is preferred.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $70000.00/hr.
