Description
Welding Program Development:
Lead the creation and implementation of a welding program in accordance with industry standards (e.g., AWS, ASME) and collaborate with quality teams on necessary enhancements for certification. Shop Floor Support:
Provide on-site assistance to welders and engineering teams during welding and additive processes. Weld Inspection Program:
Collaborate with non-destructive testing teams to develop and maintain an effective weld inspection program. Manufacturing Procedures:
Develop, document, and implement manufacturing procedures for welding and additive manufacturing. Customer Engagement:
Create and submit work procedures for both new and repaired products for customer approval. Quality Assurance:
Review process and welder qualification samples, ensuring adherence to sustainable quality practices in collaboration with materials labs. Specification Interpretation:
Analyse and communicate industry and customer specifications and requirements. Training and Education:
Educate staff on welding concepts and practices. Problem-Solving:
Utilize scientific methods to troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues. Quality Disposition:
Provide technical resolutions for welding quality rejections and oversee corrective actions. R&D Projects:
Engage in research and development initiatives for process improvement and product innovation, working with cross-functional teams to explore new markets. Technology Expertise:
Stay updated on industry trends and serve as a subject matter expert in welding and additive manufacturing. Failure Analysis:
Conduct failure analysis for rejected welds and implement corrective actions as necessary. Supplier Oversight:
Provide qualification and oversight for suppliers as needed. Industry Representation:
Represent the organization in relevant industry associations and forums. Profile Bachelor's Degree in Weld Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or Materials Science with a focus on welding processes preferred. Equivalent industry experience will be considered. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Weld Engineer or in applicable additive manufacturing research.
