Certification Details BLS ACLS Job Details Multi Care Unit Level of care is within one unit for all three acuities (not floating between units) of beds: 10 Ratios: Depends on the acuity as this is a combined acuity unit: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6, if no nurse aid for 1:3 primary care. Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Medical ICU: Sepsis, suicide attempt, drug or Alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, blood pressure or heart rate abnormal. Post op complications. PCU: non-titratable infusions to maintain heart rate or blood pressure. Experience or 'Must have' skills: Will need at least 2 years of ICU experience. Will take one year of ICU and one year of PCU/Med surg if they have worked in larger facilities and have strong skills. Charge RN manages 50 inpatient beds that include MST, PEDS, & our Acuity Adaptable MCU unit which admits ICU/PCU/MST. Shifts & Scheduling: 12-hour shifts, 0700/1900 – 1930/0730. Weekend Requirement: every other weekend, Friday and Saturday for Nights, Saturday and Sunday for dayshift. Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly. Job Requirements Required certifications: BLS, ACLS. Will need at least 2 years of ICU experience. Are RNs required to titrate drips: Yes. Are there nurse aids on this unit: NAs take 10-15 patients. If no NA, RN takes 3 patients and provides primary care to PCU & MST patients. Schedule Information 12-hour shifts, 0700/1900 – 1930/0730. Weekend Requirement: every other weekend, Friday and Saturday for Nights, Saturday and Sunday for dayshift. Holiday Requirement: Holiday rotation to distribute holidays fairly. If low census, staff rotates standby turns. Unit Specific Information Unit orientation based on EOW, Nights, Holiday Rotation. Floating Requirements: Float to our EC MST & Pediatric unit to care for adult MST, also float to our West Campus in Prescott to care for ICU & PCU to maintain competency in caring for all types of ICU/PCU patients. Additional Details RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Yes. Is there tele on this unit: Yes. Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? RNs must take 12-lead EKG. ICU patients, RN monitors per bedside cardiac monitor. ICU must monitor ICU patients.
