This position plays a pivotal role in our financial department, providing expertise in managing financial data and ensuring our company's financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with a focus on accounts receivable, payroll, balance sheet, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, job costing, billing, and a deep understanding of the HVAC and plumbing industry. Familiarity with Sage Intact software is a must. This role requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably within the construction sector.Responsibilities: Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and taxes. Perform job costing for various construction projects, ensuring all costs are accurately recorded and allocated. Prepare and analyze monthly balance sheet and P&L lines, conducting variance analysis as required. Develop and maintain financial budgets and forecasts, assisting in the development of financial goals and setting company-wide financial policies. Implement and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that the department is up to date with changes to accounting regulations and standards. Process payroll, ensuring accurate and timely payments to all staff members. Coordinate billing activities, ensuring all invoices are issued and paid in a timely manner. Provide financial insight and analysis into the HVAC and plumbing operations of the business. Utilize Sage Intact software for various accounting operations. Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, board of directors, and other stakeholders. Participate in the ongoing development and implementation of financial best practices within the company.Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry. Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting and legislation. Proficient in Sage Intact and other financial management software. Experience with accounts receivable, payroll, balance sheet, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and billing. Knowledge of the HVAC and plumbing industry is a significant plus. Excellent analytical skills with a thorough attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
