Duke Health Clinical Psychologist Substance Abuse and Addiction Position

The Division of Adult Psychiatry and Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified Clinical Psychologist with experience in substance abuse and addiction treatments. This is a faculty position with a focus on integrating clinical care, education, and clinical operations. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and potential.

Primary Activities:

  • Provide evidence-based psychological treatment for patients with a wide range of psychiatric diagnoses, with a focus on substance use disorders and related mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care.
  • Participate in the leadership and management of clinical operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
    Supervise and mentor clinical psychology trainees, including residents and interns.
          Scholarly activities are encouraged and supported.
          Participate in departmental and institutional committees as assigned.
          Involvement in the development of collaborative care services within the Duke Health System 

Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited internship.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of North Carolina.
  • Demonstrated expertise in substance abuse and addiction treatments, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and other evidence-based interventions.
  • Experience in clinical operations and leadership within a healthcare setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate within a diverse, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to teaching, clinical supervision, and mentoring of students, residents, and early-career faculty.
