Job Summary

The Phlebotomist is responsible for preparing specimens for laboratory testing and performing blood draws to ensure high-quality sample collection.

This role requires maintaining a calm and professional environment for patients, ensuring proper specimen handling, and complying with all health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and decontamination of equipment.
• Greet patients courteously, explain venipuncture and other specimen collection procedures, and help reduce patient anxiety.
• Execute blood collection using straight or butterfly needles while ensuring compliance with established procedures.
• Verify laboratory requisitions with specimen tubes, label accurately, and process specimens as required, including centrifuging, splitting, and freezing based on test orders.
• Package specimens for transport, store them at appropriate temperatures, and follow protocols to maintain specimen integrity.
• Demonstrate proficiency in specimen collection techniques and processing methods.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual training sessions.
• Respond to patient inquiries and relay laboratory results over the phone when necessary.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Exp required: 2+ years
• Valid Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, LA, NV, and WA).
• Minimum of 6 months' experience in venipunctures in a lab or hospital setting.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with a minimum of 4 years of driving experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness to travel 100% within assigned geography.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong patient interaction skills, both in person and over the phone.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Certifications

• Phlebotomy Certification (as required by state)
