Our client, a dynamic commercial real estate investment firm, is seeking a critical member for their accounting team - this is a newly created position due to the growth of the company/portfolio. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting, you'll play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records and driving success across a diverse property portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Accounting:
- Lead implementation and application of new accounting pronouncements relevant to the real estate industry.
- Provide technical guidance on complex accounting issues including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and fair value assessments.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the Property Accounting Department.
- Review property-level financial statements for accuracy and compliance with GAAP. No actual property accounting is performed in this role!
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
- Generate insightful management reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Provide oversight in variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Manage cash flow projections and optimize working capital.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate reporting of construction and development costs.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement efficiency improvements within the accounting function.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation required.
- 5-8 years of experience in technical accounting within the real estate industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842).
- Previous experience in a managerial role, demonstrating leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information effectively.

*The advertised compensation of $190-215k is the all-in amount calculated as $165-180k (base salary) + discretionary bonus of approximately 20%.
