Eustis Engineering is currently looking for a Welding Inspector to perform welding and structural steel inspection on projects throughout southeastern Louisiana and southern Mississippi.

Requirements

The candidate must have satisfactorily completed the certified Welding Inspector exam from the AWS and be registered as a current CWI. A Welding Inspector with a current TWIC card is preferred.

He/she must have a minimum of two years' experience in inspection of welded and or fabricated components to the AWS D1.1 welding code. He/she will inspect materials and observe activities associated with construction of structures, and fabrication of equipment to ensure the procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Welding Inspector must be of high moral character, reputable, and conduct his/her affairs above reproach. He/she must also:

  • have developed discernment capabilities through knowledge and experience;
  • be able to communicate problematic situations concerning both workmanship and/or materials directly to the professional in charge;
  • be familiar with industry standards such as, AWS and be able to follow written test procedures;
  • perform duties of various assignments and complete complex reports with minimum supervision and assistance;
  • be able to read and interpret project plans and specifications;
  • be familiar with the requirements of non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, dye penetration, and radiological testing of welds;
  • hold a current certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from the AWS; and
  • perform duties of various assignments and complete reports with a minimum of supervision and assistance.


Work Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pre-and-post Employment Requirements

The individual will also be enrolled in Eustis Engineering's alcohol and drug abuse testing program and will be subject to random drug and alcohol screenings. A pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check are required as part of the employment process.
