Status: Part-time, approximately 25 hours per week, non-exempt

Job Summary:

Reports to the Finance Bursar Coordinator. The Cashier will perform a variety of responsible and confidential cash transactions for the entire campus, which includes various departments and offices. On a daily basis, will discuss and answer confidential student account information, process payments, prepare daily deposits and provide general office support with a variety of clerical activities and related tasks.

Essential duties, tasks, and responsibilities: (The following duties are not to be considered a complete list of duties and responsibilities assigned to this position.)
  • Assist students and parents with information by phone, email, and in-person concerning their student billing accounts and also payment plans, housing and meal plans questions
  • Post payments to the proper accounts (student or departmental)
  • Reconcile daily sessions to ensure that all payments balance
  • Become proficient with the BW Payment Portal and payment plans and support students and parents with inquiries
  • Process student charges from various campus departments to student accounts
  • Record scholarships to student accounts and send to Financial Aid for processing
  • Work cohesively with all other student service offices to provide the best customer service to students and parents
  • Invoice and manage payments for corporate partners each semester
  • May perform other related duties as required and assigned
Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma required, some college preferred
  • 3 years related customer experience with cashiering, credit card machine, computers and basic accounting principles and practices
  • Deliver excellent customer service to a wide variety of customers ensuring effective communication between students, parents, administrators and staff
  • Must be able to work and speak comfortably while assisting students, parents, faculty and staff
  • Must be detail oriented, accurate, ability to muti-task and possess strong organizational skills
  • Outgoing, people first-attitude and team player
  • Must be open to work flexible hours as needed in high peak busy times
  • Must have good computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to work in a shared office environment with frequent peak workload periods
  • Must pass background check and complete required university compliance training


Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
