The Senior Staff Applications Engineer is the primary technical resource responsible for Helping architect designs for various customer sites by working closely with our go to market partners (Specifying engineers, Electrical contractors, engineering/procurement/construction companies) and customers to conduct site walks, detail technical specs, draft 1-lines, layout sequence of operations and help build microgrid designs. Work closely with internal project management and product engineering teams on microgrid project tracking and execution. Build a strong understanding of regulatory requirements, specifically in relation to utility interconnection requirements and local AHJ permitting requirements for energy storage solutions and ensure that Generac's commercial & industrial energy storage products are seamlessly integrated hardware and energy management software solution to meet customer needs. Develop and own commercial tools related to storage sizing, distributed energy system modeling. Work with the sales team as the key energy storage and technical advisor. Establish and maintain strong relations throughout the sales cycle involving customers, specifying engineers, distribution partners, internal/external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical sales support/enablement Take a leading role in doing customer site walks, detailing tech specs for each site, drafting / critiquing 1 lines, laying out sequence of operations and firming up overall microgrid design for each site Provide technical support for the integration of Generac products with third party supplied equipment (PV, Building Management, Switchgear, Utility protection relays etc.). Establishing and maintaining strong relationships throughout the sales and project execution cycle involving customers, specifying engineers, distribution partners, internal/external resources, and external vendors Using their understanding in energy storage applications, use cases, interconnect and AHJ permitting expertise to appropriate design and accelerate project execution Commercial tools and processes development

Developing and owning commercial tools related to storage sizing, distributed energy system modeling and detailed project quoting and proposal development tools Training and deploying the toolkit with the wider commercial team Utilizing the commercial tool kit to simplify and accelerate the inquiry to order process Maintaining an interconnection and permitting toolkit to facilitate easier interconnection process for Generac projects in California Distributed energy system solutions development

Developing and maintaining a solid understanding of the distributed energy systems architecture surrounding energy storage Partnering with internal (product management, engineering) and external (go to market partners, vendors) entities to ensure that Generac's commercial & industrial energy storage product is part of an overall seamlessly integrated hardware and energy management software solution to meet the end customer needs Helping develop and execute on a long-term distributed energy systems roadmap for Generac's Industrial business Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably electrical) 12+ years' experience in electrical and mechanical control systems, including reading architectural, mechanical and electrical 1-lines 12+ years' experience working in an applications engineering or technical solutions role with a specific focus on energy storage, PV and other multi asset microgrid systems at entities like electrical contractors, engineering firms, project developers 12+ years' experience executing energy storage, solar, microgrid projects in California, specifically familiarity with utility interconnect requirements and AHJ permitting requirements in California 12+ years' experience working with sales/business development and project management teams in a technical sales enablement role Ability to travel up to 40% to visit customer sites Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in electrical engineering; preferably with a power systems or power electronics focus Excellent technical understanding of distributed energy systems architecture, interplay of energy storage specifically with PV and other assets like gensets, EVSE etc. Well versed in energy storage applications, use cases, regional and national incentive structures Solid understanding of and ability to read/create 1-line diagrams, sequence of operations etc. to support overall site architecting/microgrid design Experience developing, utilizing, and maintaining commercial tools and processes related to storage system sizing, distributed energy systems techno-economic modeling and energy storage quoting/proposal development Experience value selling energy storage, specifically in behind the meter applications Detailed understanding of CA specific utility interconnect rules and AHJ permitting rules pertaining to solar, storage, microgrid projects with specific project execution experience in California Project management experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation and organizational skills Detail oriented with associated project management skills Maintain expert level of internal and external product knowledge on energy storage and broader Distributed Energy Systems Demonstrated skills around being an energy solutions architect Ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial culture Demonstrated caliber to take on open ended challenges and innovate by partnering internally and externally to create solutions Ability to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve application problems independently with minimum supervision Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, preferably in one or more distributed energy system techno economic modeling tools

Compensation : Generac is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The annual salary for this role is $160,000.00-$256,000.00. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term and long-term incentives.
