The CN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. : 11/25/24 at 11:59 p.m. Minimum Qualifications Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Minimum of two (2) years of recent RN experience in an ICU caring for cardiovascular patients or two (2) years of recent PACU RN experience Minimum of five (5) years of recent RN telemetry experience Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately. Knowledge of current trends in nursing. Commitment to excellence in patient care. Effective interpersonal skills. Department Overview The UC Davis Heart and Vascular Center (HVC) serves the cardiology patient population, of Northern California and Western Nevada, by providing inpatient and outpatient invasive and non-invasive care. Located on the first floor of the UC Davis Main hospital, the Heart and Vascular Center is composed of four Cardiac Cathlabs, 2 Electrophysiology suites, and a seven-bed recovery unit. Additionally, the HVC performs non-invasive diagnostic studies and medical interventions that take the form of echocardiograms, electrocardiographs, and Tilt procedures. The department serves as high-performance vector for care in alignment with the mission of UC Davis and supporting the operation of the hospital as a whole. Finally, the HVC is a leading site for the placement of minimally invasive cardiac structural heart prosthesis to treat non-functional mitral, aortic, and tricuspid valves. Department Specific Job Scope Registered Nurses, in the Heart and Vascular Center at the UC Davis Medical Center, provide care to patients with a variety of interventional and non-interventional cardiology related needs. Nurses also support pre-procedural education and the transition of care for all patients cared for in the HVC. Care includes and is not limited to IV access for perioperative care, post operative recovery, and support of Echocardiography related procedures such as Bubble studies and Dobutamine stress tests. The candidate will also support care including administration of procedural IV sedation and monitoring patients during sedation procedures such as Transesophageal echocardiograms. Further, the candidate will assist with the coordination of and transition of care as patients enter and complete their treatment with the Heart and Vascular Center.
