Apply today to the Staff Accountant position at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties (BGCSDC). The Staff Accountant is responsible for recording the accounting transactions for Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties (BGCSDC) grants and projects. It is also responsible for accounting functions of the BGCSDC Foundation (Foundation) and other General Ledger Accounting functions. This position ensures the accuracy and completeness of the accounting records in designated areas. Essential Duties: BGCSDC Corporate Grants Accounting With oversight from the Senior Staff Accountant, record and track all revenue and expenses for assigned grants and projects, ensuring transactions are consistently aligned with budgets throughout the funding period. Record and track accounting for accuracy and investigate budget vs actual variances. Prepare month end reconciliation of grant and project related general ledger accounts. Prepare billing and reimbursement requests for assigned grants and projects General Ledger Accounting Cash Receipts Responsible for documentation, processing and posting contributions and other cash receipts to appropriate accounts and company. Work with Advancement team to accurately record contributions and conduct reconcile monthly. Includes making remote and counter bank deposits, prepare accounting entries for revenue and receipts, post entries to accounting software, reconcile GL Revenue accounts to donor records. Fixed Assests Maintain fixed assets schedules, make monthly entries for additions, deletions and depreciation expense; maintain Capital Improvement Projects records for construction Pledges Receivable Maintain the pledge receivable worksheet and reconcile to the General Ledger Benefit Accounts Reconcile health insurance premium payments with employee deductions and employer payments; reconcile Flexible Spending Account activity BGCSDC Foundation Maintain Foundation accounting and investment records to produce timely and accurate month end reporting and draft financial statements. Foundation accounting functions include: Cash Management; record receipts and payments, record investment activity, maintain pledge and special event records, record transactions between BGCSDC and the Foundation, revenue and expense accounting, assist in preparation of annual budget and month financial reports, prepare schedules for annual audit Qualifications Qualifications: This position is part-time, 25-30 hours per week Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Non-profit accounting experience and knowledge of FASB accounting principles preferred. Payroll processing and labor compliance experience helpful. Must be able to work independently and utilize experience and other resources to develop efficient work process solutions. Grant compliance and reimbursement billing experience preferred. Must be comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day responsibilities. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work cooperatively in a collaborative work environment. Must be detail-oriented and extremely organized with the ability to prioritize workload. Experience with Excel, QuickBooks, Blackbaud NXT accounting software, Paycom, Donor Perfect and Adobe preferred.
