The Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford seek an accounting professional with at least 5 years of not-for-profit or for-profit experience.
This is a part-time, temporary role.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, validating and reconciling transactions, communicating effectively, performing tasks with accurate attention to detail, working efficiently under pressure and prioritizing tasks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounting tasks: Independently perform routine and assigned accounting tasks, such as bookkeeping, recording bank transactions, and preparing cash deposits
Managing invoices: Preparing invoices, researching discrepancies, and matching payments to invoices
Tracking and collecting payments: Recording payments, updating statements, and making collection calls
Financial reporting: Providing accurate and timely information on the company's accounts receivable position
Account reconciliation: Reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries. Effectively utilize NetSuite
Financial reporting: Generate periodic reports, such as on funds deployed, interest accrual, grant management, and delinquencies
Form preparation: Prepare Form 990 and Form 1099-Misc and 1099-NEC, and file them before the deadline
Customer service: Provide excellent customer service
Cross-functional management: Work effectively with members of other departments

Requirements
BS/BA degree in Accounting.
Experience in not-for-profit or for-profit companies in an accounting capacity, with a minimum of five to ten years of experience.
Experience using NetSuite accounting software.
Advanced computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
Knowledge of GAAP and not-for-profit principles, standards, and practices.
Knowledge of federal and state government cost standards.
