Description Benefits Job Description This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Insurance Division. Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise. The Iowa Insurance Division (IID) is seeking a Lead Captive Examiner - Analyst to join our team. This position requires relevant experience and offers opportunities for growth. The Iowa Insurance Division is responsible for authorizing, monitoring, and ensuring the compliance and solvency of captive insurers domiciled in the State of Iowa. This position serves as the primary analyst / examiner focused on reviewing new captive applications, analyzing business plan changes, and conducting examinations. The selected individual will review all key aspects of assigned captives, including but not limited to financial statements, actuarial opinions, audited financial reports, company transactions, enterprise risk management, and corporate governance. The successful individual will attend and participate in a variety of meetings with prospective captive insurance companies as well as captive service providers. In addition, this individual will attend occasional captive-focused conferences and continuing education opportunities to promote the Iowa Insurance Division, keep abreast of trends in the captive insurance market and changes in regulatory requirements. Overall travel for the position shall be less than 10%. All of the following (a and b): A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in insurance, accounting, actuarial science, risk management, finance, or business equals one year of full-time experience in insurance industry examination, financial analysis, quality assurance, enterprise risk management, or corporate governance; and A total of two years of graduate-level education and/or full-time experience (as described in part a), where twenty-four semester hours of accredited graduate college or university coursework in business, law, actuarial science, computer science, or pharmaceutical science equals one year of full-time experience. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work as an Insurance Examiner 1.
