Apply for Job Job ID 73917 Location Sacramento Full/Part Time Full Time Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job Job Summary CA-SS Under the general direction of the Research Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the analysis and reconciliation of contracts and grants account expenditures (in excess of $17 million) in accordance with budgeted projections. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research administrator to independently develop and/or oversee research awards and / or transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Works on awards of diverse scope where analysis of data requires thorough understanding of complex regulations. Completes and approves transactions for signature by manager or other authorized institutional official. Works on complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and / or multiple sub awards. Guides less experienced staff. Typically works on complex proposals such as grants / contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators and multiple sub awards. Research issues, analyze data, prepare reports, make recommendations and meet with Principal Investigators on a monthly basis. Provide accurate monthly financial reports to Principal Investigators, CAO, and Finance Manager. Develop budgetary projections for review and make budgetary adjustments as needed. Responsible for primary authorization and oversight of purchasing, invoice processing and expense reimbursements for contracts and grants per budgets. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Health Administration or related field of study and/or equivalent experience/training. Experience managing significant volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment. Experience performing complex financial analysis and customized reporting. Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment. Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc. Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports. Skills to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas. Current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
