Ability to operate and perform minor maintenance on building machinery and equipment. Ability to maintain a professional rapport in dealings with others. Plan, coordinate, and administer the overall maintenance and mechanical functioning of the building. Help in the selection, assignment, scheduling, and training of members of the custodial staff. Supervise the work performance and general attitude of the custodial staff. Maintain an inventory of building machines, supplies, and equipment for which you are responsible. Assist in the planning and administration of custodial in-service education programs. Write and file federal, state, and building reports. Plan annual budget for custodial supplies and materials. Plan and oversee all maintenance and repair work. Supervise the promotion of the safety, health, and comfort of students and building personnel. Supervise the cleaning of building and premises. Supervise an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair. Conduct periodic inspections and tests of all electrical and mechanical functions. Maintain an awareness and comply with federal, state, local, district, and building policies, rules, and regulations. Maintain a professional awareness of developments and programs in the area of building maintenance. Maintain all storage areas that are assigned to your building. Participate in the grounds maintenance and gardening work of the district’s schools and related facilities. Confer with school principals, landscape architects, and other parties in making plans for landscaping, planning, and maintenance of various school grounds. Maintain and care for school grounds. Shovel snow from sidewalks and driveways and spread sand, salt, or ashes to prevent slipping. Move furniture or equipment between buildings. Operate district equipment, machinery. Report acts of vandalism, theft, or deliberate littering. Assume primary responsibility for the safe condition of pipes, drains, and plumbing fixtures in the facilities owned or operated by the district. Examine district-owned facilities on a regular basis for purposes of preventative maintenance. Assume responsibility for the safe condition of lighting fixtures, electrical apparatus, fixtures, wiring, air conditioning and refrigeration units, and similar electric elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district. Assume responsibility for the safe condition of flooring, door frames, doors, window frames, staircase, stair treads, wall paneling, ceiling paneling hardware, and similar structural elements in the facilities owned or operated by the district. Instruct custodians on the proper use and care of hand tools, equipment, hardware, and materials. Maintain an awareness and comply with district policy, administrative rules and regulations. Report any and all unsafe conditions to your supervisor in writing immediately. Perform other appropriate duties as assigned by immediate supervisor. Application Process:
