Job Description
The Demand Planner role is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and products. In this role, you will create and maintain forecast models for different product lines, incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from sales, marketing, finance, and other sources. This role leads the dialogue each month with key counterparts in Sales and Marketing to gain insights and works closely with the SIOP team to contribute in the monthly S&OP process.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of the demand planning function.
Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast accuracy.
Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with Sales, Marketing and Commercial Finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
Use and maintain the Demand Planning software as the primary forecasting system tool.
Provide input to the Inventory Planning team to develop inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
Closely coordinate and communicate customer action plans with supply planning
Collaborate with operations and inventory planning to develop a plan that maximizes asset utilization and supports excellent customer service.
Facilitate regular Demand Reviews with sales, marketing, and site representatives.
Review drivers behind Demand Above Plan caused stockout, and work with sales to obtain updated customer forecast information.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related discipline. APICS certified preferred.
2 plus years of operations planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with forecasting and MRP tools.
High level of computer proficiency required.
(Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Oracle ERP systems, etc)
Preferred experience with Demantra or DM Cloud demand planning software.
High degree of commitment, initiative, flexibility, and attention to detail.
Ability to work well in a team environment, facilitate meetings and influence others.
Ability to work well under pressure, while recognizing and addressing systemic issues.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Experience in forecasting and mathematical trend analysis.
Self motivated, results driven individual with a proven track record of process implementation.
