Litigation Legal Secretary (DC) Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, a mid-sized law firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington D.C., is seeking a Litigation Legal Secretary to join our team in Washington, DC. The position will entail supporting 3 busy attorneys in the Firm’s International Arbitration and Litigation practice groups. The expected annualized base salary range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Prepare, proofread, and process legal and court documents and other papers including but not limited to editing documents, preparing redlines, table of authorities, and tables of contents. Prepare court filings in various jurisdictions. Assist in preparation for depositions, court hearings, and trials. Manage and organize attorneys’ emails in Outlook and save them in a document management system. Enter attorneys’ time on a daily basis. Arrange meetings and travel, schedule appointments, and maintain contacts and calendars. Process expense reimbursements, submit client vendor invoices, and assist attorney with billing related tasks. Handle electronic filings with state and federal courts; handle agency filings/submissions; and retrieval of electronically filed documents. Knowledge of court rules and filing procedures, including determining requirements for filing for in varying jurisdictions. Communicate by phone/email with clients, court personnel and other legal professionals. Prepare court filings using Adobe PDF to assemble pleadings and exhibits, including bookmarking and OCRing. Support other litigation assistants with court filings, deposition preparation, and case management. Assist other departments and secretarial assistants with overflow work. Qualifications: A minimum of 4 years of law firm litigation assistance experience is preferred, supporting a minimum of 3-4 attorneys. Must be proficient in legal secretarial and administrative tasks, including document preparation and court filings. Must be familiar with local court rules. Satisfaction working both independently and collaboratively with teams of varying work styles. Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to client and firm-related matters. Strong work ethic with ability to produce high-quality work in a consistent and reliable manner. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize, work independently, and multi-task, including juggling multiple projects and demands, meeting deadlines, and ensuring accuracy and quality of all work product. Must be proficient in MS Word (including utilization of styles and pleadings to format legal documents), Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Proactive personality, positive and enthusiastic attitude, and a willingness to learn. Must be enthusiastic about performing and learning varied litigation support tasks. Experience with iManage and InTapp Time preferred.
