Plant Manager – Processed Meats Manufacturing Facility Job Summary: The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient and safe operation of the manufacturing facility by standard operating procedures. This includes managing the daily and weekly production schedule, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards, and maintaining a work environment aligned with industry best practices. The role involves supervising a team, managing the facility’s HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) program, and working closely with Quality Assurance (QA), USDA, and Maintenance teams. The Plant Manager is also accountable for budget preparation in collaboration with local accounting, reviewing and approving purchase requisitions, reconciling daily production and material issues, and partnering with the training department to maintain a skilled workforce. The position is also responsible for ensuring food safety, quality, and legality across all operations. Additional duties may be assigned by the General Manager. Key Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. Supervise team members in various departments including Materials Procurement, Scheduling, Maintenance, and Operations. Manage the HACCP program, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Collaborate with Quality Assurance, USDA, and Maintenance teams to ensure smooth and safe operations. Develop and manage the annual budget in conjunction with the local accounting department. Review and approve purchase requisitions, and address any discrepancies in daily production and materials. Work with the training department to ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge for their roles. Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and legal standards. Perform audits and inspections of the production floor. Other duties as assigned by the General Manager. Requirements: Education: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of operational experience in a further processing plant is preferred. Knowledge of ham production is a plus. Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to interact effectively with internal teams and external customers. Physical Requirements: Must be able to access all areas of the production floor for audits and inspections, including areas with fixed ladders, stairs, and steps. Ability to tolerate temperature conditions ranging from 28°F to 45°F in most areas of the facility. Supervisory Skills: Responsible for managing all operations at the manufacturing facility, including materials procurement, planning, scheduling, and maintenance. Develop and mentor team members to improve performance and address any deficiencies.
