As a seasoned legal professional, you will lead efforts to develop and implement robust compliance policies and procedures, assess risks inherent in our operations, and provide counsel on legal compliance matters. You will oversee consumer protection compliance, manage crises and disputes, and engage with internal stakeholders, and legal organizations to ensure alignment with company goals and industry standards. Duties may include but are not limited to: Legal Compliance and Risk Management: Develop, implement, and manage the execution of compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to legal requirements. Identify and assess risks inherent in our operations and devise strategies for mitigation. Provide ongoing training and education on compliance matters to internal stakeholders. Offer legal advice and support on compliance-related issues, including labor and employment law matters. Manage crises and emergencies, responding promptly to legal challenges as they arise. Consumer Protection Compliance: Advise on legal compliance requirements pertaining to consumer protection laws and regulations, particularly in the context of e-commerce activities. Offer legal counsel on product liability matters, including defense against consumer claims and ensuring compliance with warranty obligations. Provide guidance to internal stakeholders involved in contracts, product development, marketing, and customer service to ensure alignment with company commercial interests, as well as consumer protection standards. Develop crisis management protocols for addressing consumer complaints, product recalls, and safety incidents. Coordinate legal responses to consumer inquiries and investigations, ensuring swift and effective resolution. Engage with industry groups and legal organizations to shape consumer protection policies and regulations. Establish procedures for handling customer complaints related to product safety and quality. Dispute Management: Oversee a portfolio of disputes, including consumer complaint escalations, civil litigations and internal grievances. Ensure efficient progress of cases through all stages of dispute resolution. Conduct legal research to support dispute resolution strategies. Prepare legal documents and engage in negotiation efforts to reach favorable resolutions. Manage relationships with external counsel and oversee their work in litigation matters. Coordinate discovery efforts and assess potential risks associated with disputes. Develop strategies for proactive dispute resolution to minimize liability. Legal Operations: Assist the GC in the legal department operations, including budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor management. Develop and implement processes to improve legal department efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize legal workflows and support business objectives. Qualification/Requirements: Education and Legal Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in California. Specialization in compliance, consumer protection law, or dispute resolution would be beneficial. Experience: At least 6-8 years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on compliance, consumer protection, and dispute resolution. Prior experience in e-commerce, product liability, consumer protection law and civil litigation would be highly advantageous. Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs, managing crises, and handling dispute resolution. Familiarity with the regulatory landscape specific to consumer electronics, including standards such as FCC regulations for electronic devices and consumer protection laws relevant to electronic and communication products. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the consumer electronics industry or familiarity with E-Commerce digital platforms and technology-driven business models. Ability to adapt to the rapidly changing landscape of consumer electronics and communication products, including emerging technologies and regulatory changes.
