Industrial Sandblaster and Painter Job Description The sandblaster and painter foreman will be responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing daily sandblasting and painting operations. This role requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment, managing equipment, and ensuring all tasks are completed according to project specifications. Responsibilities Create a daily work plan, including prioritizing tasks and organizing resources. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the blast bay and blast booth. Clean the blast booth daily to comply with Air Quality Department inspections. Maintain sandblasting equipment in good working condition through regular inspections and repairs. Ensure accurate piece count and time tracking for all sandblasting tasks. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Inspect and evaluate surfaces for painting, removing old paint, and repairing imperfections. Apply primer, paint, and coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. Clean and maintain painting tools and equipment, and dispose of waste materials properly. Stay updated on industry trends and participate in training sessions. Essential Skills 3 years of painting and sandblasting experience. 1 years of experience with cementitious waterproofing coatings. Proficiency in surface preparation and confined space work. Experience with industrial tanks and SSPC surface preparation standards. Knowledge of NACE abrasive standards. Ability to blast 150 sq/ft to an SP-10 in 1 hour. Ability to coat 1000 sq/ft with 2% or less rework in 1 hour. Knowledge of airless spray tip numbers and wet film gauge use. Ability to identify and correct coating defects. Additional Skills & Qualifications Ability to identify and achieve SP-1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 13, 15 standards. Experience with troubleshooting and repairing field equipment. Knowledge of paint application equipment setup, tear down, and cleaning. Ability to mix coatings correctly according to data sheets. Basic knowledge of operating and repairing plural machines. Work will take place at multiple sites in the valley, including municipality work, waste water treatment plants, reclamation facilities, carbon steel water tank reservoirs, and confined spaces. The job may involve working at heights and in heavy industrial facilities. The employee will be provided with necessary PPE and tools, and must be responsible for the proper care and maintenance of their equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, Arizona.
