Salary Range; $5,546.67 - $6,818.30 monthly SUMMARY The Epidemiologist Analyst position has primary responsibility for disease surveillance, vaccine preventable disease vaccination campaigns, outbreak investigation, contract tracing and quality improvement projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Experience using SAS/SQL to import data in various formats including tab- or comma delimited, and/or analysis of large datasets using SAS Viya and Health System Records. Enumeration, evaluation, and compilation of both chronic and communicable disease data across inmate populations across all LASD jail facilities to assess trends and disease burden. Communicable diseases include but are not limited to HIV, Hepatitis, Chlamydia, Mumps, Gonorrhea, Syphilis, MRSA, Lice, Scabies, Influenza, and COVID-19. Communicable disease data is compiled and presented during quarterly infection control meetings. Chronic diseases include but are not limited to diabetes chronic kidney disease, cirrhosis, cancer, and heart disease or short paragraphs. Data compilation and tracking of vaccine doses administered to incarcerated individuals by facility based on documentation in EHR. Identification of all incarcerated individuals who were contacts to an individual (or individuals) with confirmed disease diagnoses (e.g., TB, Hepatitis A, etc.) and coordination with CHS PHNs for contact follow-up and reporting to DPH. Study design, data compilation, and analysis for various QI studies focusing on the evaluation of various medical services in order to assess compliance, accuracy, patient safety, and areas of improvement. JOB QUALIFICATIONS Ability to follow policies and procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment. Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 40 pounds. Education/Experience A Master's degree from an accredited college with specialization in epidemiology or its equivalent -OR- A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in public health, social science, health science or related field -and- two years of experience assisting in the design, conduct, and evaluation of epidemiologic studies or investigations. Certificates/Licenses/Clearances A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions. Successful clearing through the Live Scan and Health Clearance process with the County of Los Angeles.
