Summary :



Typical Day in the Role

  • Purpose of the Team: The team is a part of Sigma R&D and focuses on the project management side of the organization. They support the CVP of the organization and handle engineering for operating systems, including Windows and gaming.

  • Key projects: This role will contribute to: Operating system engineering for Windows and gaming. Managing onboarding and offboarding of employees. Supporting two leaders' calendars and handling operational tasks such as device management and expense reports.

  • Typical task breakdown and operating rhythm: The role will consist of 10-20% meetings, 30% calendaring for two leaders, the remainder is onboarding and offboarding employees.




Projects: The team works on high-profile projects within Microsoft, including operating systems and gaming, which are significant in the Microsoft ecosystem. Supportive Leadership: The leaders, including Ian, the CVP, and his directs, are described as amazing and respectful, making it a positive work environment.



Role Clarity: The role is clearly defined as a business administrator, not an administrative assistant, emphasizing the operational and support responsibilities that go beyond typical administrative tasks.



Responsibilities:


  • Performs a variety of complex administrative functions for all levels of management including external business partners.

  • Manages schedule(s), coordinates travel arrangements and processes business expenses.

  • Coordinates meetings and events, department financial operations, personnel operations, and facility operations.

  • Manages procurement of goods and services including computer equipment, office supplies, reference materials, and vendor relationships.

  • Provides general office support. Serves as the department/group contact.

  • Completes special projects as assigned.




Candidate Requirements


  • Years of Experience Required: 1 to 2 years of experience as a business administrator at Microsoft. This is a hard requirement, and candidates without this experience will be rejected. Overall experience: While the job description mentions 3 to 5 years of administrative experience, candidates with more experience (e.g., 15 years) are also considered, provided they meet the Microsoft experience requirement. Please note that this is not a managerial role and those that are looking to move up the ladder may not be a great fit.
