Nuclear Regulatory Commission Senior Project Manager
Location: Rockville, Maryland Summary:
This position is located in the Office of Administration (ADM), Division of Facilities and Security (DFS). The supervisor is Tim Mossman. This position is in the Non-Bargaining Unit and is subject to Confidential Financial Disclosure or security ownership restriction reporting requirements. Responsibilities:
The incumbent will serve as a Senior Project Manager and technical authority responsible for the most complex facility projects that involve significant budget and complex logistical challenges. Assignments involve leading and managing projects of agency-wide scope and importance. The incumbent serves as a recognized authority on facility projects by top-level management officials within and outside the agency. Responsibilities include: Collaboration with staff in the Office of Administration and external entities to ensure project technical and schedule requirements are met. Managing and monitoring project performance and progress, routinely briefing ADM senior management on project status and risks. Overseeing all aspects of projects, including identification of space technical requirements, construction budget and schedule, relocation logistics, and project risks. Providing input to budget formulation for unique and novel special projects. Leading ADM staff in overseeing complex and highly visible contracted construction projects. Developing and maintaining the master schedule for special projects, including identification of critical path items and risks. Providing interpretation, adaptation, and application of design and engineering principles to solve design problems. Managing cross-functional teams involved with complex building projects and mentoring junior staff. Preparing periodic status reports and identifying risks to project success, providing solutions to top-level management. Performing other duties as assigned. Specialized Experience:
Defined as demonstrated by: 1) experience with managing building construction projects; 2) experience in engineering and/or managing complex projects; 3) knowledge of building infrastructure and design; and 4) skills in written and oral communications required to explain and negotiate requirements. Requirements: U.S. Citizenship Required This is a Drug Testing position. Background investigation leading to a clearance is required for new hires. You must meet the qualifications for this position by no later than 30 calendar days after the closing date of this announcement. Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following: Ability to lead complex facilities projects involving significant budget and logistical issues. Ability to work with stakeholders to accomplish tasks. Ability to effectively communicate with senior managers and customer organizations regarding projects. Education:
This job does not have an education qualification requirement; however, education that supports performance of expected job duties is preferred. Additional Information:
The duty location of this position is Rockville, MD. Employees are expected to be in the office a minimum of 4 days per pay period. Telework schedules are approved on a case-by-case basis.
