As part of the President’s Executive Cabinet, this System position is directly responsible for leading managers of the division and indirectly responsible for all employees within the division. The CHRO establishes and implements Human Resources (HR) efforts that effectively communicate and support the System’s mission and strategic vision, by developing HR plans and strategies to support the achievement of the System’s overall business operations objectives. The ideal candidate will function as a strategic business advisor to executive/senior management regarding key organizational and management issues. The CHRO will work with the System’s executive management team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the University. The CHRO develops comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the human capital needs of strategic goals, as well as develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective. The CHRO will provide overall leadership and guidance to the HR function by overseeing talent acquisition, talent development, succession planning, retention, training, leadership development, compensation, and benefits globally. Education and Work Experience A master’s degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent field and 7 years of Human Resources experience Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations, statutes, and legal precedence relating to human resources, employer-employee relations, and equal employment opportunity Working knowledge of health and welfare benefits, workers’ compensation, classification, and compensation systems SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred Experience with Banner, LaGOV ERP, and Argos Required Skills/Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong supervisory and leadership skills Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
