Senior Director, Human Resources

Position Summary If you are seeking a strategic and transformational leadership role, consider joining UTHealth Houston as a Senior Director of Human Resources. You will lead the development and implementation of human resources strategies and initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic objectives. You will guide a team of HR Consultants, who provide comprehensive support across various HR functions to meet the needs of our clinical and research enterprise. In this role, you will partner with senior clinical and research leaders. As a change agent, your ability to translate organizational strategies into effective HR operational plans will be essential. Success in this role requires leveraging your knowledge of HR best practices, university policies, and applicable regulations to advise and support the organization’s strategic goals. Experience as an HR Professional in healthcare or higher education is preferred. Proficiency in tools such as PeopleSoft and Microsoft 365, specifically Excel, along with adaptability to new and emerging technologies, is highly desired. This position is full-time with a salaried, exempt status. While this position is hybrid, as a senior leader, this position will work onsite as needed, primarily in the Texas Medical Center with some travel to other locations across the greater Houston area. Remote work is allowed within the greater Houston vicinity. All human resources employees attend certain on-site meetings or events periodically as needed. This role comes with eligibility for all UTHealth benefits, which include healthcare coverage and enrollment in the pension plan managed by the State of Texas. Position Key Accountabilities

Collaborates with senior leaders, managers, and employees to drive HR processes and programs developed by respective functional areas including: integrating new talent, employee development, employee relations, succession planning, performance management, retention, compensation planning, employee engagement, and policy administration. Monitors, measures, and reports on HR initiatives, opportunities, development plans, and achievements. Provides consultation and coaching to senior leadership for assigned client groups to ensure employees are treated fairly and consistently. Establishes credibility throughout the organization with management and employees to be an effective listener and problem solver of human resources issues. Ensures effective implementation and administration of human resources programs by providing feedback to functional areas about opportunities for improvement. Collaborates with organizational leaders to strategize, develop, and execute initiatives that will support the achievement of business objectives. Serves as consultant to management on human resources-related issues while acting as an employee champion and change agent. Directs human resources team for assigned client group to ensure overall client satisfaction and appropriate level of service delivery. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection; hiring and termination, training, development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning. Responsible for the design, execution, and effectiveness of a system of internal controls which provides reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient, assets are safeguarded; financial information is reliable and compliant with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Certification/Skills

Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve strategic objectives. Proficient with personal computer software applications including spreadsheets and database management. Professional in Human Resources (PHR)-HRCI from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) preferred. Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)-HRCI from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) preferred. SHRM-CP - Certified Professional from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) preferred. Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)-HRCI from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) preferred. Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in a business or a related field required. Master's Degree preferred. Minimum Experience

7 years of experience in Human Resources with at least 3 years in one HR specialty function such as Employee Relations, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, etc. required. Experience in human resources in a healthcare setting preferred. Physical Requirements

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects. Security Sensitive
