VP Commercial Lending Officer

JOB SUMMARY:
Develops new commercial banking relationships for the Bank and manages assigned portfolio of existing customers. Determines needs, provides products and services. Negotiates and structures commercial loans. Consistently provides outstanding and professional financial services. Exceeds customer expectations and expands financial relationships by actively selling and cross selling quality banking products and services to individual, family and business customers. Leads a group of 3-5 employees to drive commercial loan growth and services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manages the quality and profitability of commercial loans and assesses portfolio risk. Assesses customer needs, determines product/service solutions, and ensures delivery. Negotiates and structures commercial loans and provides for proper processing and documentation. Manages commercial relationships requiring a high level of technical and financial expertise. Acts in an advisory capacity with respect to commercial customers' financial and operational needs. Conducts annual reviews on assigned commercial credits. Develops new business relationships and determines product/service solutions. Identifies potential customers and initiates business development efforts to establish a banking relationship. Delivers commercial banking products and services. Maintains Bank reputation with prospects, referral sources, and community-based organizations. Develops and nurtures referral sources and provides commercial banking activity support to branches. Participation in network organizations and groups is a requirement. Approves and manages credit exposures within assigned authority. Determines information required to affect a credit analysis and ensures receipt of information. Works with the Commercial lending officer to ensure high quality credit analyses and risk assessments are developed. Presents credits for approval above assigned authority. Ensures that all appropriate information is delivered to loan servicing, credit and other loan administrative units. Ensures that record keeping is accurate and current. Preparation of loan documentation support. Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines. Ensures all commercial loan relationships are in full compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulatory guidelines. Recommends changes to support prescribed requirements. Develops and nurtures referral sources and supports branches in support of commercial banking activities. Offers additional lending expertise to more junior lenders as needed. Keeps abreast of appropriate laws and regulations affecting commercial banking in general and the extension of commercial credit. Attends relevant courses and seminars to build expertise as necessary. Attends Security Committee meetings and presents loan packages to Committee for review and approval. Represents the Bank through active participation in community and industry organizations and events and promotes the business interests of the Bank. Refers sales opportunities to other departments or Bank affiliates in support of established objectives. Driving is a requirement of this position. This position requires driving in order to complete basic responsibilities included within this description. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Strong managerial and supervisory skills required to supervise a managerial/professional staff of one or more people. Manage assigned team members; make routine employment decisions, review performance, make salary recommendations; assign work, provide coaching and training, advise team members as necessary; resolve team member issues. Maintain department staff attendance records utilizing online timekeeping system. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERRED SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as complicated financial statements and lending regulations. Ability to speak effectively and negotiate with clients and employees of the Bank.
