Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on Kubernetes to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with large-scale services and enterprise-level data systems on cloud-based architecture platforms, including Kubernetes and container orchestration. The primary responsibility of this role is to facilitate the migration of traditionally deployed applications to a Kubernetes infrastructure. This role can support a hybrid work schedule, with duties being performed 3 days per week onsite in the Chantilly, VA area. Job Duties: Design, develop, and maintain Kubernetes infrastructure to support the migration of traditionally deployed applications to a containerized environment Collaborate with development teams to assess application architecture and identify necessary modifications for smooth migration to Kubernetes Develop and implement strategies for migrating applications to Kubernetes, ensuring minimal downtime and seamless integration Ensure the integration of data from multiple sources, including internal and external systems, APIs, and third-party tools within the Kubernetes environment Develop and implement data protection strategies, including data encryption, access controls, and disaster recovery plans for applications deployed on Kubernetes Manage and execute application migration projects, ensuring data integrity and accuracy during the migration process Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute Kubernetes-related projects and initiatives Develop and maintain documentation related to application architecture, data flows, and Kubernetes infrastructure Implement best practices for application management, including data modeling, data quality assurance, and Kubernetes-based solutions Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to data engineering and Kubernetes Required Qualifications: Active TS/SCI security clearance Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or related field 5 years of experience in data engineering or DevOps with a focus on large-scale enterprise-level data systems and Kubernetes Proficient in cloud-based data technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and Kubernetes Proficient in IaC (Infrastructure as Code) Terraform, CDK, Kubernetes, etc Demonstrated expertise in designing and building Kubernetes infrastructure to support application migration Strong understanding of data protection and security best practices in Kubernetes environments Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team Working at Edgesource: As an ISO 9001:2015 certified and CMMI Level 3 appraised small business, Edgesource specializes in providing a variety of technical solutions to include software development, database services, enterprise networking, data center virtualization, and management support.
