The New Mexico Department of Information Technology (DoIT) is the enterprise technology partner serving and supporting state agencies with innovative solutions to advance the delivery of their core missions and to create progress for all New Mexicans. The DoIT Network Services Bureau (DoIT-NSB) is a dynamic, fast paced IT shop that supports State of New Mexico agencies, boards and commissions. Why does the job exist? This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the DoIT-NSB data network and all associated services. Qualified candidates will organize, install, and support the Department of Information Technology's internal and external network systems, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and ensure communication between state agencies. This position also requires application and advancement of IT Network Administrator skills in a constantly changing WAN/LAN environment. How does it get done? - Manage large/complex network installations including requesting information, evaluating proposals, recommending solutions, overseeing work of others, verifying correct installation, and coordinating with other departments in a highly complex, multi- vendor, and multi-protocol network environment. - Plan, design, maintain, and implement network architecture, access, security, and services. Recommend guidelines and policies as appropriate. - Initiate network projects including developing and documenting technical network designs and project plans and procuring equipment and supplies. - Monitor network for stability and proper configuration. Who are the customers? All New Mexico state agencies that use the Department of Information Technology's Data Network. Ideal Candidate Ideal candidate has: Experience configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting routers and switches. Experience working with Cisco routers and switches. Experience related to and troubleshooting IP (Internet Protocol) networking and routing. Experience working with BGP (Border Gateway Protocol). Experience working with OSPF (Open Shortest Path First). CCNA or CCNP Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in network administration. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive phone and personal computer usage. Must carry a state issued cell phone. Ability to be mobile and work between Santa Fe and Albuquerque offices. Office settings in both Santa Fe and Albuquerque offices; direct client interaction and some travel may be required.
