Position Summary
A detail-oriented, analytical Financial Analyst will provide insights on our Strategy and Operations team to help our organization make sound investment, budgeting, and financial decisions. This typically involves analyzing financial data, forecasting trends, evaluating business opportunities, assessing risks, and advising on strategic financial planning. The Financial Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will have strong financial modeling skills, an understanding of accounting principles, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have strong communication skills. The Financial Analyst will report to the Operations Coordinator.
Essential Functions
Financial Planning and Analysis Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis to support strategic decision-making across the organization. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement Collaborate with teams across the organization to gather relevant information for financial analysis Support the monthly financial reporting process, including variance analysis against historical performance and forecast, identifying and highlighting drivers and trends Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports as needed to support decision-making, including management reporting and dissemination of information to operating units Continuously improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy Assist with the design and implementation of NetSuite Planning and Budgeting system Financial Modeling
Craft financial models to inform decisions on a range of issues, from capital investment and business development to program design and deployment. Develop and maintain financial models for various business units and projects Model revenue and profitability to assess new business opportunities and develop product and program metrics Analyze and report on performance against models, other benchmarks, and measures financial results against budget and forecast to inform future investment Builds analytical tools to gain efficiencies in financial modeling as required Investment and Risk Assessment
Collaborate with Investment Accountant to evaluate investments, assess risks, and recommend actions to enhance returns and resilience. Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
Salary:
$70,000-$75,000
Experience:
2-3 years of experience in a related job position with a focus in financial modeling and budgeting. NetSuite Accounting Software experience highly preferred but not required.
Skills:
Strong ability to build and interpret financial models for forecasting and strategic planning. Proficiency in analyzing large data sets, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights. Expertise in Microsoft Excel, including functions, pivot tables, and complex formulas. Experience with other spreadsheet tools is a plus. Familiarity with financial tools and software. High level of accuracy and attention to detail, especially when working with financial data and reports. Skills in preparing budgets and analyzing variances between actual and projected financial data. Ability to use tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel to create reports and visually present financial data. Solid understanding of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Knowledge of industry trends and an understanding of how financial analysis impacts business decisions. Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly, both in writing and verbally, to various audiences. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to address financial challenges and improve processes. Competency in assessing financial risks associated with investments or business decisions. Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment. Working Conditions:
