Purpose of the Job The MLO Production Manager is responsible for the management of a team of retail mortgage loan officers. The role is accountable for increasing mortgage production while adhering to credit union policies and ethical standards, and keeping the member's best interest in mind. This position fosters and cultivates business relationships with diverse members of the community to generate mortgage business to meet sales goals and objectives. The Manager's duties include handling various day-to-day activities including building strong relationships with realtor partners, recruiting, assisting with employee onboarding/terminations as needed, training and sales related activities. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Manages retail MLO staff to lead the identification of business opportunities, the development of the existing customer base, and the initiation of new client relationships to expand the organization's residential lending relationships. Works with VP of Mortgage Production to develop strategies and action steps to reach goals. Manages and supports interaction with Regional Directors and Branch managers to develop relationships. Helps develop scripting and trains on quality mortgage referrals. Helps train on providing the best possible member experience for existing and new members. Serves as Primary contact for Operations to assist with issues on loans and MLO performance. Continually develops and maintains specialized knowledge of all residential lending products. Ensures staff has the appropriate resources and training need to successfully compete in the marketplace. Manages a sales force that meets sales goals and objectives. Coaches, develops and inspires staff to maximize their potential. Maintains regularly scheduled coaching sessions with team to improve performance. Responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from personal contacts and from other Truliant Federal Credit Union business channels. Responds to Member Care Center communications and works with Operations to resolve any issues. Sets production goals for MLO staff and monitors results. Sends reporting feedback monthly on performance. Ensures exceptional member service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies and adhering to HMDA requirements. Helps MLOs develop and maintain successful relationships with business referral sources, existing and prospective Truliant Federal Credit Union employees. Ensures exceptional member experience by overseeing loan process from origination to close and providing on-going communication to members and business partners. Oversees and ensures successful completion of all assigned Mortgage Loan Officer Training activities. Participates in community efforts to promote home ownership. Presents appropriate Truliant Federal Credit Union products and programs and explains guidelines. Works with Mortgage Processor, Underwriter, and all other Mortgage Staff to ensure that loan documents are submitted to processing within agreed upon SLA. Other Duties and Responsibilities Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the loan origination environment, as well as services offered by the credit union Must have a thorough knowledge of first and second mortgage real estate lending, including mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures, and any regulatory compliance relating to real estate lending Must have a continuing knowledge of insurance products offered and underwriting guidelines to ensure the loans are insurable to protect the credit union's loan-to-value in the collateral Must show demonstrated success in prospecting, generating leads, closing business and consistently meeting/exceeding production goals Must have broad knowledge of all aspects of the mortgage industry, including secondary market concepts and practices and underwriting guidelines Must have demonstrated ability to lead a sales team to achieve goals and objectives Must have ability to recognize and focus on critical issues; must balance and respond to competing needs within the organization Must have verifiable, established network of referral business including Real Estate professionals and other centers of influence Must have strong computer skills including a fundamental understanding of MS applications, database management and previous experience utilizing laptop technology for communication purposes including accessing rate, credit and loan status information Must have solid time management skills and the ability to organize prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously Must have ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and provide financial alternatives Must display professionalism and effective interpersonal skills Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written Must have ability to understand all business processes within the Credit Union Must meet requirements to be bonded Must be detail oriented and well organized Must be able to work in a general office environment Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant's members Physical Requirements Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds Occasional travel required between Branches. Education and Background Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance or related experience with loan processing or financial services preferred. Must have 3-5 years of previous Mortgage experience. Must have demonstrated experience in mortgage sales and marketing.
