Job Description Powell is dedicated to the future growth and talent of our company. We offer internship opportunities to college students through a 10-week internship program. Our interns receive hands-on experience, training and the opportunity to work on a project in their specific area of study. The Strategic Sourcing internship will be focused on evaluating the current Supplier Contract Risk Assessment and the Fastenal Delivery and VMI Analysis. The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in Accounting or Finance. Posted position does not provide visa sponsorship, housing assistance, relocation or remote/hybrid opportunities. Project Details: Our intention with the Intern this summer is to have that intern spend time in Corporate and Divisional roles to learn the processes and expectations for an Accountant. The Intern will learn the process for Quarterly Forecast creation and Presentation. They will learn the process for an annual Plan creation and presentation. During the time at Powell we will provide experience in both monthly closing and quarterly closing. Quarterly closing will involve the interaction with external audit. We would expose the intern to internal audit requirements. The intern will experience, as a part of the quarterly process, the work of Corporate Accounting including Tax, Financial Reporting and SEC Reporting. In the middle of this experience, we will utilize the intern to create a method for evaluation of divisional Labor and OH rates. The intern will be able to present after the summer the various responsibilities and functions of Corporate and divisional (operational) Accounting. The presentation will include an analysis of Labor and OH rates across multiple operating divisions including comparison between the divisions. First this project will benefit the EDA Powell team by providing them a mentoring relationship to build their abilities to teach and helping an inexperienced person learn how the Accounting function operates. The Labor and OH rate analysis will provide further discussion related to our costs and plant execution across manufacturing divisions. Job Requirements: A successful intern at Powell will have the following characteristics: Currently pursuing a 4-year degree from an accredited institution Rising Junior or Senior level students continuing their studies in the fall semester Good academic standing; minimum 3.0 GPA Team-player, self-starter, effective communicator, & dependable Possess multi-tasking abilities and strong interpersonal skills.
