The successful candidate will join the Payments Risk Management team, a group of highly skilled professionals tasked with building world class capabilities and intelligence around the payments ecosystem, with a focus on inbound payment to American Express.

In this role, you will collaborate with multiple partners including Product management, Risk Strategy, Data Strategy, Technology, vendors and Customer Service teams to ideate and create solutions, capabilities, and strategies for driving great payments customer experience and controls.

Role and Responsibilities

Drive design and implementation of next generation payments risk solutions

Evaluate new data and vendors to determine value; drive onboarding if relevant

Support the execution of Credit, CBO and Fraud payment strategies by partnering closely with CFR functional teams, tech capabilities, servicing, money movement teams, compliance, and new vendors.

Provide a point of view and guidance to technology architects to ensure the platform solution meets business functions and performance requirements.

Guide business process design to be global, holistic, and modular to support multiple business strategies and local nuances.

Monitor emerging trends and engage in discussions that drive next generation of strategies and solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of the payments ecosystem, payments vendors such as EWS, Yodlee, Plaid, Akoya, and payment industry initiatives such as Open Banking and real-time payments (RTP).

Strong understanding of high-risk payment events such as returned payments (unauthorized, invalid bank account, etc), credit balance refunds and overpayments

Analytical, relationship and project management skills for driving large cross functional initiatives

Experience evaluating, onboarding and managing vendors is a plus

Proven track record of thought leadership and result-orientation.

Minimum 4 years of experience in fraud or credit risk management in the payments industry.

Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline preferred (e.g. Applied Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent industry experience.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually bonus benefits
