Requirements
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for financial modeling, due diligence, and market research for clean energy and sustainable infrastructure projects, acquisitions or investments, and project financing transactions.
They will work to support the growth of the company by underwriting, modelling, and in partnership with the Management team. The applicant ideally should have at least 3 years’ experience at an investment firm, renewable energy developer, investment bank, project finance accounting firm, or bank and experience with energy storage project modelling.
The successful candidate is involved in financial analysis and trends, forecasting, monthly analytical reporting, and other ad hoc projects supporting the finance department and business operations. The Financial Analyst provides day-to-day support for executive questions and analysis. This role will participate in forecasting and annual budgeting.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and oversee financial models that evaluate the economic aspects of storage and solar initiatives, portfolio acquisitions at NTP, and transactions involving tax equity or debt.
- Establish and sustain data rooms to facilitate financing transactions.
- Conduct due diligence to identify incentives, rate tariff data, and market information relevant to modeling financial returns from BESS and/or solar projects across the nation.
- Manage requests for proposals (RFPs) for various third-party services and components related to solar or storage.
- Prepare investment memorandums that outline market analysis and the sensitivity of returns for prospective project and portfolio acquisitions. Present findings and suggestions to the management team.
- Assist in raising third-party capital, including debt, tax equity, refinancing, and project equity structures that enable the company to finance projects effectively and enhance returns.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, including Development & Construction, Engineering, and Asset Management, to establish underwriting assumptions.
- Oversee due diligence and manage third-party consultant reports while coordinating directly with external stakeholders.
- Examine purchase, operating, financing, and offtake agreements, and assist in negotiations related to these contracts.
- Support and Assemble, prepare, and document all pre-NTP submissions.
EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE
- Proven financial expertise and experience in creating and developing intricate financial models utilizing Microsoft Excel.
- A minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the US storage/ancillary services market and the US solar market within an investment bank, finance firm, consulting firm, accounting firm, or investment fund, supporting managing directors, vice presidents, or other personnel in investing.
- Innovative thinking regarding new products or financial frameworks to enhance value, coupled with critical thinking skills and the ability to tackle complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully within a team, taking charge of processes and procedures.
- Outstanding interpersonal abilities, highly driven and results-focused, with a process-oriented mindset along with strong organizational and communication skills. Keen attention to detail and the capability to establish and meet realistic deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Excellent writing skills in English.
- Proficient in MS Word, Access, PowerPoint, and other related software.
A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Engineering is required.
