Position Overview:
We are currently seeking experienced and compassionate Phlebotomists to join our network of healthcare professionals. As a Phlebotomist contracted through our staffing agency, you will have the opportunity to work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, diagnostic laboratories, and blood donation centers. This flexible role offers the freedom to choose assignments based on your availability and preferences.
Responsibilities:
Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures to collect blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing and analysis.
Verify patient identities, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety during blood collection procedures.
Label and document blood specimens accurately, including patient information, time of collection, and test orders, to maintain specimen integrity and traceability.
Adhere to established phlebotomy protocols and safety guidelines, including infection control procedures and proper disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials.
Transport specimens to the laboratory for processing and analysis in a timely manner, ensuring specimen integrity and chain of custody are maintained.
Maintain inventory of phlebotomy supplies and equipment, and assist with ordering and restocking as needed to support efficient workflow.
Provide excellent customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff, responding to inquiries and requests in a professional and courteous manner.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams, including nurses, physicians, and laboratory technicians, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
Current and valid certification as a Phlebotomist or Phlebotomy Technician preferred.
Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Phlebotomist in a healthcare setting preferred.
Proficiency in performing venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques, including difficult draws and special populations.
Knowledge of blood collection equipment, techniques, and safety protocols.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen handling and documentation.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed.
