Job Summary:

The Accounting Specialist - Reconciliations serves as the primary reconciler for daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations. The purpose of the role is to prepare accurate, supportable, and detailed reconciliations to ensure general ledger accounts are in balance to their respective support. The Accounting Specialist – Reconciliations will work directly with the GL Accounting Lead to research and resolve incorrect or unusual transactions with other employees of the department and bank.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside GL Accounting Lead to ensure all reconciliations and reviews are completed timely and in-line with internal controls.
  • Preparing all reconciliations to ensure all exception and supporting items are categorized correctly and supportable.
  • Working with other departments to resolve daily or aging balancing issues quickly to minimize impact to customer or internal accounts.
  • Researching and assisting as needed to resolve outstanding/aging exceptions.
  • Identifying new efficiencies within the Blackline software and making recommendations to supervisor(s).
  • Preparer of daily, monthly, and quarterly GL reconciliations.
  • Secondary backup to Accounts Payable Clerk.
  • Prepare and submit weekly FR2644 report to Federal Reserve.
  • Primary backup for daily journal posting.
  • Assistance with Call Report preparation as needed.
  • Point-of-contact for day-to-day accounting related questions from outside departments.
  • Assist with month-end GL research for closing purposes.
  • Assist with audit processes and research as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Minimum two years of college coursework in Accounting, Finance, or related business focus with minimum two years of relevant experience OR four-year college degree is Accounting, Finance, or related business focus.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent technical capacity and computer operations experience.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
