The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Administrative Services, Fiscal Unit is recruiting for an

Accounting Technician 2 - Travel Administrator/Coordinator!

This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 14.

This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

What you will be doing:
As the Department Travel Administrator/Coordinator for the DMVA, you will be entrusted with managing travel reimbursements, which includes analyzing, researching, and reconciling payments. This role requires you to apply knowledge of the Alaska Administrative Manual and various collective bargaining agreements to ensure compliance with state travel policies and IRS guidelines related to taxable travel, thereby maintaining the financial integrity of the department. Your responsibilities will be crucial in processing traveler reimbursements accurately and uniformly across the department.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also, you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License, proof of vehicle insurance, and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

Minimum Qualifications

One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
