Mechanic- Greenland
Polar Field Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Greenland. This seasonal position offers a unique opportunity to work in a remote Arctic environment while contributing to cutting-edge scientific research.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment, power generation equipment, and facilities.
- Perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs.
- Operate and maintain snowmobiles, Tucker, and Caterpillar vehicles.
- Handle minor electrical, plumbing, and heating issues.
- Monitor and maintain facilities, including power generation and water systems.
- Compile inventory records and submit resupply requests.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience repairing heavy-duty equipment
- 5+ years of experience maintaining facilities, including welding and fabrication
- Proficiency with diagnostic software, tools, and techniques
- Experience with power generation equipment
- Ability to drive trucks, snowmobiles, and other polar vehicles
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to work in a remote, challenging environment
- Valid US passport and driver's license
- Field experience is preferred, with Arctic or Antarctic experience being a plus
Benefits:
- Competitive wage: $2,500 - $2,800 per week
