It's an exciting time to join Calix as we're working together to imagine and create the broadband experience that the world needs - and wants. Our team is growing and we're looking for a Staff Manufacturing / Process Engineer to join our Test & Manufacturing Engineering team.
This position will be responsible for the transition of key products from Asia to USA/Mexico to support products build in North America. This role encompasses PCBA manufacturing process design and development, operation, implementation, fostering best practice sharing among Calix manufacturing suppliers. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting new product introduction (NPI), mass production, ensuring seamless collaboration with our manufacturing partners and hardware design engineers to enhance manufacturing processes and yield performance, improve efficiency, reduce costs, promote sustainability, and ultimately maximize profitability.

San Francisco Bay Area Only:
124,900.00 - 187,200.00 USD Annual
National Major Cities plus, CA, CO, NY Metro area:
108,600.00 - 162,800.00 USD Annual
Regional plus NY:
97,700.00 - 146,500.00 USD Annual

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee the of new product introduction (NPI) as well as the ongoing support and optimization of existing products and services. Develop, evaluate, optimize, and share best practice manufacturing processes from inception through to start up and certification at Calix ODM / CMS suppliers.
- Assess manufacturing processes, take measurements, and interpret data.
- Monitor and audit manufacturing yields and work with suppliers on quality improvement plans.
- Conduct detailed process and root cause analysis to identify areas for improvement. Develop innovative solutions and processes to improve production yields and product quality.
- Perform process and capacity simulations and risk assessments while managing cost and time constraints.
- Address complex manufacturing issues with innovative solutions.
- Provide process documentation and Special Assembly Instruction (SAI) as well as ensure equipment and tools are suitable for manufacturing quality products.
- Review and provide input on new product development (DFM/DFA/DFR) for PCB fabrication, mechanical assembly, SMT, and rework.
- Establish and implement quality control processes to ensure that PCBAs and Electronic & Mechanical Assembly (E&M) meet industry and regulatory standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, initiate, facilitate, and implement change, through the actions and activities of self and governed team on behalf of Calix.
- Support RMA to drive root cause with partner manufacturing.
- Manufacture/Quality Management Systems (QMS) audits to assess compliance and capabilities.
- Ensure suppliers' processes are qualified and maintained to produce high quality products.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- At least 10 years' proven work experience in the manufacturing process / manufacturing engineering field
- Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
- Excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing process and quality control related standards.
- Knowledgeable in IPC standards
- Experience in process simulations, SMT, PCB assembly and mechanical assembly.
- Experience in Propel or Agile, or other change management systems.
- Working knowledge of process engineering software packages.
- Prior internal/external customer facing presentation experience a plus.
- Ability to work individually, within a team and cross-functional environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- In factory PCBA manufacturing experience
- Experience in supplier quality management
- Experience in product/factory relocations
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus
Location:
- Remote-based position located in the Dallas/Fort Worth (preferred), Detroit, or Minneapolis areas.
- 25% - 40% Travel Required - US and Mexico
