Advancing healthcare with heart Job Summary Reporting to the VP of Operations, the Sr. Director of Manufacturing & OpEX is a member of the Operations Leadership Team (OLT) and has the primary responsibility of ensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership for the organization's Manufacturing and Operational Excellence departments. The role will be responsible for creating organizational and program budgets in collaboration with TMC, TPR and TAH in support of the FY AOP and Terumo LRP. It will also set the direction and expectation for the coaching, performance management, and development of associates within the departments that reinforces the Terumo culture and way of doing business. In addition, this position will work with the management team to contribute to the development and implementation of Terumo organizational strategies, policies and practices. Job Responsibilities Play a significant role in TMC Manufacturing long-term planning, including initiatives geared toward operational excellence. Develop & support LRP and maintain long-range financial plans. Ensure to directly or indirectly optimize MD production/manufacturing performance. Lead the development of business strategies and practices to constantly improve production capability, quality, costs and customer service goals. Accountable for manufacturing planning, scheduling, quality adherence, processing, materials management, packaging and delivery. Provide consultation on matters related to production, capacity, margin expansion, critical project delivery, business structure and growth. Oversee overall financial management, budgeting, planning, systems and controls. Develop and supervise annual manufacturing budgets. Management of TMC MD Manufacturing budget in coordination with Finance and the VP of Operations. Direct annual budgeting and planning process for the organization's annual budget. Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organization's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals. Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting. Improve the operating systems, processes and policies in support of organizations mission -- specifically, better management reporting, information flow and production, business process and organizational planning. Ensure to comply with all manufacturing reporting as needed. Job Responsibilities (continued) Regular meetings with OLT and ELT, when applicable that reflect current performance levels and trends. Maintain and enhance quality, safety and customer satisfaction. Comply with Terumo policy and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Seek and implement process and methods to improve QMS. Propose, prepare, and implement operations initiatives to enhance profitability. Ensure to maximize production efficiency as well as optimize manpower usage. Lead, direct and monitor every aspect of production in MD manufacturing plant with strong, transformational cross-functional leadership. Collaborate and perform closely with every department. Manage and increase the effectiveness and efficiency of Support Services (HR, IT and Finance), through improvements to each function as well as coordination and communication between support and business functions. Prepare and maintain fully engaged, talented workforce. Manage and coach direct reports. Train and prepare associates for performance management or succession planning. Drive initiatives with the OLT that contribute to long-term operational excellence. Facilitate new R&D project transition and product transfers to manufacturing processes (i.e. DFM). Ensure to successfully complete and smoothly integrate existing production stream. Performs other job related duties assigned. Direct Reports: Typically includes one or more (Director/Manager level). Indirect Reports: Typically includes two or more (Manager/Supervisory level) and associates with a wide range of skill sets. The skill sets range from entry-level production positions to senior level technicians. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) Knowledge of and experience in organizational effectiveness, operations management and implementing Lean/5S/VSM best practices. Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff and major projects or initiatives. Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management/work style and commitment to get the job done. Experience with budget development and oversight experience. A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace. Knowledge of tax and other compliance implications of manufacturing optimization projects. Excels at operating in a highly-matrixed, global environment, high comfort level working in a diverse environment and ability to delegate responsibilities effectively. Demonstrated experience with managing people, open to feedback and direction. Demonstrated ability to challenge and debate issues of importance to the organization. Demonstrated ability to look at situations from several points of view and offer solutions to increase effectiveness. Persuasive/influential with details and facts. Qualifications/ Background Experiences Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business or related field and/or combination of relevant education and related experience is required. A Masters Degree in an Engineering, Technical or Business discipline is preferred. A minimum of 15 years experience in operations is required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or medical device facility.
