About the role:
We are seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer, Electrical who is passionate about robotics and its potential to transform daily life. In this role, you will lead efforts to optimize and sustain our advanced manufacturing facility, working closely with design, test, manufacturing, operations, and external partners to produce our groundbreaking robots.
About the work:
- Develop, Review, and Release manufacturing specifications, drawings, BOMs, processes, SOPs, equipment, workflows, and tools/fixtures to support high-quality production.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing manufacturing safety, quality, efficiency, productivity, capacity, and cost.
- Serve as a subject matter expert to troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure effective qualification, process capabilities, and material disposition.
- Document processes clearly and communicate effectively across teams to facilitate seamless collaboration.
- Work closely with the design team to implement design for test and self-test on various robot PCB assemblies, requiring a deep understanding of circuits and systems.
- Design and debug functional test fixtures for PCBAs, incorporating necessary stimulus, test circuitry, and test software, while also involving electromechanical design.
- Develop high-level computer-based test interfaces, control, and supervision, and derive pass/fail criteria in conjunction with the design team.
- Design PCBA and system burn-in racks and procedures.
- Apply statistical process control methodologies for overall quality control of PCBAs and systems.
About you:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field, with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record (5+ years) in a product-driven environment, showcasing strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Hands-on experience in supporting the design, assembly, and testing of electro-mechanical systems, including mechanisms, actuators, PCBAs, and sensors, utilizing data analysis and lean methodologies.
- Experience in transitioning products and processes from development to production, including New Product Introduction (NPI) and Production Validation Testing (PVT).
- Familiarity with developing test requirements, test stand and equipment development, validation testing, Engineering Change Order (ECO) production release, and training.
- Proficiency with Altium and/or Creo is a significant plus, along with some mechanical design knowledge to create test fixtures.
