Job Description
Purpose:
The Lead Material Handler oversees the daily operations of material handling activities, ensuring the accurate and efficient movement of materials within the warehouse to the production room(s). This role includes supervising material handlers, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining inventory accuracy. The Lead Material Handler plays a critical role in ensuring that materials are received, stored, and distributed promptly and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Operate within Good Manufacturing Procedure (G.M.P) regulations and guidelines, always by ISO 13485.
· Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System and relevant standards.
· Utilize visual inspection methods to ensure raw materials used to assemble the procedure packs are defect-free.
· Lead and supervise a team of material handlers.
· Assign tasks and monitor the performance of team members.
· Transport materials and products to designated areas within the facility.
· Stack and organize materials safely and efficiently to optimize space and accessibility.
· Pick raw materials for prototypes and production work orders per production plan.
· Maintain accurate inventory records using inventory management systems.
· Report inventory discrepancies and damages to inventory control and finance.
· Collaborate with the planner on component, stock, and material work order holds.
· Reissue material components to work orders due to picker or work order issues.
· Support production room reorder requests.
· Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of hazards.
· Support 5S practices (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
· Support inbound and outbound material movement.
· Quarantine incoming products, when necessary, according to the Quality Management System.
· Other/ related duties as required.
Education & Qualifications
· Excellent communication skills.
· Warehouse experience.
· Ability to prioritize projects.
· Warehouse or distribution experience preferred.
· Must have a flexible approach to work and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Ability to work effectively with colleagues.
· Desire to build quality into a product.
· Attention to detail.
· Appreciation for following manufacturing and quality guidelines.
Physical Demands
· Using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear is regularly required.
· Regularly lift and move objects 10-50lbs occasionally lift.
· Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
· It is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
· Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
Work Environment
· This position requires working in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
· The role may involve standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
