Job: Welding Coordinator
Location: Chicago, IL 60632

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Welding Coordinator to lead our welding program and ensure compliance with quality standards and governing codes. This role is essential in maintaining the integrity of our welding operations and aligning certifications with production needs. The Welding Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the welding process, including training, inspections, and quality planning, contributing to our commitment to delivering exceptional products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Re-certify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
  • Update and maintain welder qualifications and continuity records.
  • Ensure equipment calibration is up-to-date and compliant with standards.
  • Conduct annual welder training programs to enhance skills and maintain certifications.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Quality to improve inspection processes and manage nonconformance repairs.
  • Review customer specifications, identify quality control requirements, and prepare documentation for final customer submittals.
  • Support project quality planning and ensure adherence to ISO 9001 and AWS D1.1 standards.

Ideal Experience and Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; an Associate’s degree in Welding or Weld Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience: 5–7 years of technical and manufacturing experience in welding; prior experience supervising weld programs preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Proficiency in welding processes and equipment.
    • Experience with destructive and non-destructive weld testing.
    • Familiarity with AWS standards (D1.1, D1.3, D1.6).
    • Knowledge of ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Certifications: Experience working under an AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI); NDT experience or certification is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and resource planning systems.
  • Experience with quality auditing is a plus.
