A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHYSICAL THERAPY / OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TECHNICIAN
As an exercise science healthcare professional for our private practice, you play a critical role in helping our patients by assisting the therapists in exercise treatment. You prepare patients for physical therapy by welcoming them and helping them get comfortable. Under the supervision of a physical or occupational therapist, you prepare treatment areas, equipment, and materials by cleaning and positioning them correctly. You assist patients on and off treatment tables and exercise equipment to ensure their safety. In addition, you maintain the confidence and trust of our patients by keeping all their information confidential.
At times, you assist with answering telephones and taking messages. You record all no-shows and cancellations as well as process monthly physical therapy reports. By keeping track of inventory, you order supplies as needed to keep our private practice well-stocked. You always take care to follow safety standards when using equipment and materials as well as implement appropriate safeguards. Helping others is a passion of yours, and you show up to your job in therapy each day excited about what you do!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PHYSICAL THERAPY / OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY TECHNICIAN
- 1-2 years experience using gym equipment in a guided exercise performance
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in kinesiology or exercise science, ideally pre-PT or pre-OT highly preferred but not required.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short corresponds, and memos
- Having knowledge about medical terminology is a plus but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.

WORK SCHEDULE
This full-time therapy tech or aide position at our private practice works a typical schedule of four 10-hour shifts from 7 AM - 6 PM, Monday through Friday with either Monday, Wednesday, or Friday off.
