This entry-level office position earns a competitive wage of $18-$23/hour, depending on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PHYSICAL THERAPY SCHEDULER

In this entry-level customer service position, you play a critical role in providing care to our patients by ensuring they are scheduled in a timely manner with their physical therapist. You guide the patient through the process of coming in for first-time visits or follow-ups and walk them through the scheduling process as necessary. After checking in patients, you obtain insurance authorizations and verify their coverage. You ensure all required information is received in the office prior to a patient's scheduled appointment and all other required documentation is available in the patient's chart.

By maintaining organization, you effectively communicate patient messages to each physical therapist and ensure the proper handling of voicemail, incoming faxes, written messages, and referrals to meet the needs of each patient in a timely manner. You also maintain professional relationships and communication with physical therapists, co-workers, contractors, and outside facilities. By following established safety procedures, you use all equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner. You perform all your responsibilities while maintaining the strict confidentiality of our patients. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SCHEDULER

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Ability to adjust tasks in accordance with changing deadlines, emergency calls and priorities
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math skills
  • Knowledge about efficient filing systems, office machines, and equipment
  • Knowledge about basic computer systems, including Microsoft applications

Having knowledge about medical terminology is a plus but multiple factors will be taken into consideration.
