Technical Services Technician

Description Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties pertaining to systems supported by the Technical Services Dept. while complying with all rules set thereof. Individual should have knowledge of electric and electronic principles including AC and DC circuitry and microprocessors. Familiar with the operation of Volt-Ohmmeter and other electronic test equipment to analyze, troubleshoot and repair various types of circuitry. Siemens PBX operation to include maintenance of database, installation of new phone extensions, moves of phone extensions, etc. Installation, provisioning, testing and troubleshooting of various TDM and Ethernet telecom data circuits such as T-1, DS3, 10/100Mbs, GigE and Nortel platforms. Works in conjunction with Network Operations Center to maintain system integrity and connectivity. Installation, provisioning, testing and troubleshooting of LAN applications to include all network cabling, racking, terminations and provisioning. Installation, provisioning, testing and troubleshooting of video conferencing network for IDL (Interactive Distance Learning) applications. Completing and maintaining appropriate and accurate work orders, logs, reports and documentation of daily activity. Installation and maintenance of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system. This includes but not limited to Remote Terminal Units and all peripheral devices interfacing to the various systems of electric, gas, water, sewer, waste water, network management and security applications. Installation and maintenance of traffic control systems to include controllers, traffic heads, loop detectors, peripheral devices, etc. Create a safe work environment for self, co-workers and general public while maintaining the highest quality of customer service possible. Observing and practicing all safety rules and regulations set forth by Thomasville Utilities. Maintaining vehicle, tools and equipment in a safe, clean working condition. Position Requirements High school graduate or equivalent Degree in electricity, electronics or related field is preferred. Must have at least 3 years related experience. Working in outdoor environment year round, able to lift at minimal 75 lbs. Good written and oral communication skills. Computer / PC knowledge, familiar with MS Office Suite. Physical/Environmental Requirements The primary work environment of this position is in field, the candidate will be exposed to extreme weather conditions and will be on occasion required to perform manual tasks. These tasks will include but are not limited to the following (lifting, pulling, pushing, climbing and walking over rough terrain).
